Charles J. Glasser JR
For 14 years, I served as the Global Media Counsel for Bloomberg News, where my responsibilities included pre-publication review, addressing ethics issues, and training over 2,200 reporters across more than 120 bureaus worldwide. My focus was primarily on legal and ethical issues related to investigative and business news. Additionally, I managed media litigation on a global scale and am recognized for my knowledge in international media law. I am the author and editor of "The International Libel and Privacy Handbook" (Seventh Ed., 2024, Lexis/Nexis).
I frequently participate as a panelist and contributor for various media law and journalism organizations, including The Media Law Resource Center, The Committee to Protect Journalists, and the Media Law Defence Institute (UK). My writings and appearances are regularly seen in Reuters, Instapundit, The Washington Examiner, CBS Marketwatch, Talking BizNews, i24 TV, and others.
I also offer my services as a witness on media and communications matters. As a former journalist, I took on the role of Bloomberg’s ombudsman, managing complaints, corrections, and interactions with public relations and investor relations professionals who raised issues with journalistic content and ethics, both before and after publication.
Currently, I run my own consultancy, providing legal and media ethics advice to publishers, managing Freedom of Information litigation, and offering content and privacy guidelines to web-based startups. Outside of my professional life, I enjoy playing jazz guitar and restoring Jaguar sports cars.
