I was born to extreme poverty, raised by a single parent until age 11, in a foster home until 18. I put myself through College, served 3 years in the Kentucky National Guard, 4 years on active duty in the US Army, left the Army to attend law school at the University of Louisville, started my own practice shortly after law school. I have been practicing immigration law in the mid-coast region of Maine since 2013, after almost 20 years working in natural resources conservation law and policy. My interest in immigration is both professional and personal. I was a landed immigrant (permanent resident) of Canada for several years and, after returning to the U.S. adopted both of my children internationally. I love learning and working across cultures and am a strong believer in the need to attract new immigrants to this region.

Prior to going back to college at the age of 27, I was a member of the US Army and served in Korea, Saudi Arabia and Ft. Banning, GA as a Cavalry Scout (19D). During my time in service I made my way up through the enlisted ranks and eventually applied to OCA where I was accepted and began officer training.
