- Q. I'm wondering if my creditors could get their hands on money i received from injury settlement?
- A: It could depend on who the creditors represent. In terms of taxes, pain and suffering are generally not taxed. The other damages could be treated differently. This is something your attorney, or a tax attorney should advise on after seeing the breakdown of the types of damages your case involves. Good luck
- Q. I looked up my PI case and noticed that there are 4 total defendants - do they all combine as one defendant/legal team?
- A: Your attorney will need to sort things out with the individuals defendants. There's no mention in your post of how liability will be apportioned between them. In such situations, if you're talking about four different vehicles, it's possible that everyone's individual share is different, which could result in distinct claims. A California attorney could advise more definitively after seeing the police report. Good luck
- Q. I drive friends car and have an accident. I later found out that his car did not have car insurance, what should I pay?
- A: I'm glad no one was injured in your accident. You could be requested to pay damages out of pocket. It could also depend on how the other driver handles the claim. If they go through their insurance, it could further depend on how the insurance would handle the claim after paying their policyholder (looking to you for reimbursement). It could depend on the amount of damages and the carrier. Good luck
